Facial Recognition is Flawed

“Vietnamese security firm BKIS proved that all Asians look alike - to a computer; the firm showed it can fool any popular face-recognition “security” system in any brand-name notebook computer quite easily with a photo; the built-in webcams on Toshiba, Lenovo and similar notebooks scan eyes and similar conspicuous features, and BKIS simply enhanced those facial parts on the otherwise normal photos to fool the computers; companies that have been hyping facial-recognition as superior to fingerprints or simple passwords had no immediate comment.”

I am not sure whether this is true or not. If this is really true, it is quite worrying. Why? The first thing is, I am an Asian, and my notebook with built in facial recognition software installed for security is no longer safe. However, I don’t own an advanced notebook, and I don’t have faith in such kind of biometric. So why worry? There is something to be worried about. Facial recognition is used more and more by law enforcement agencies all over the world, to catch criminals. If Asians are really look alike to facial recognition biometric computer software, then the criminal or terrorist next door could be mistaken with me! That is too bad. It is like a hype now a day on the reliability of the facial recognition softwares by the companies that produce them, but we are not sure how strong these claims are and how reliable these products are. Anyway, I am scared.

Hi I'm doing a report on why facial recognition software is flawed and am currently sourcing some more information, but out of courtosy thought I'd post a comment reassuring you that it is only simple one stage security authentication that is flawed here and your notebook is an example of it, so no need to worry on this point

Under the rain in Chin State

It is raining all day, almost everyday. The roads become quite wet and muddy. I am really traped inside now. It is inconvenient to go out in the rain. Whenever it rains in Chin state, the temperature drops dramatically, and it becomes very cold. And the wind also blows quite strong. Back from Kunming, Yunnan, China

Well, I was just coming back from Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province of China. I stayed there three days (two nights) only, sent there by my organization. It is always nice to go somewhere with other people's expense actually. Well, my stay there was a nice one. Kunming is situated at about 6200 feet above sea level. Although it is at the same level as Hakha, the capital of Chin State in Myanmar, it is not as cold as in Hakha. Here in Kunming, the temperature during the day is around 20 degree Celsius, a very nice temperature indeed. And the city in situated on a flat land, possibly a plateau. The city itself is very clean, a lot cleaner than Bangkok, and quite modern. And there are also no dogs on the road too. Looks like they killed all the strayed dogs there. There are fewer restaurants in Kunming than in Bangkok. Here in Bangkok, there are lots and lots of restaurants, both cheap and expensive. More ways to post images into Gmail

A few months ago, I posted an article on a simple and easy way to insert an image into gmail message. Everybody knows that it is difficult to insert an image into a gmail message directly. Many people found it very useful and I am pleased to be able to help you all. Many people give me some neat, useful and easy ways to insert images and pictures into gmail messages. I will sum up some of them here. 1. The one I mentioned is to compose your message, either simple one or html message, in google doc, then copy and paste the whole message into gmail. 2. If the pciture is on the internet, just right click , select view image, click ctrl-A (to select all, not just the image) and ctrl-C (to copy the html codes). Then go and paste it in gmail. Remember one thing, don't click the image and copy. It won't work. You need all those html codes, not just the image.
