They also have live radio channels but it seems these radio channels are the online channels from other providers, they just list them here.

Here is another start up web portal from Myanmar. This is entirely in Myanmar language. They started the web portal a year ago. There are current news stories on Myanmar, entertainment, travel, fashion, and celebrities. There are also sections on movies, music, fashion, new products, models, shopping, sports, horoscope and Myanmar web directory.

Burglish

Everybody knows that typing Burmese (Myanmar) is a difficult job. You cannot deny it. It takes a lot of practice and patience to be able to type in Myanmar quickly and efficiently. Moreover, you also have the frustration of having to familiarize yourself with a different keyboard layout whenever you change the font system. Many Burmese people out there cannot type Burmese well. Most of us even don't know how to type in Myanmar. That is how we have developed Burglish. This is a writing system where user use the English alphabets to spell Burmese words. You cannot get the correct pronunciation although you get as close to the correct sound as possible. Although this system is far from perfect, at least you have a basic communicability on the internet. It allows Burmese chatters to use Burmese in online communications.

Now, here comes a big improvement. Some Burmese computer genius invented a system of converting these Burglish words into a meaningful Myanmar words using real Myanmar alphabets. That may be a small step for these people but actually a big leap for the Burmese online netizens. You can check it out the Burglish online. Alternatively, you can download Burglish too and use it off line on your computer. You can also see the development of Burglish at their Burglish blog.

Update on Myanmar MP3 free music download

It was a long time ago since I posted the links to Myanmar MP3 music sites for free song download. There are now a few new entries to this area so I think I should update my list again. Here is my update.

Myanmarmp3 - The old Myanmar mp3 download site is even better, with new and improved design and more new songs.

Nyakabyar - Another old Myanmar mp3 songs download site. It is better than before with many new songs although not as extensive as the Myanmarmp3 site.

Myitzuri - Looks like a new site, or may be I didn't noticed it the first time. Got a nice collection of Myanmar modern music.

Miss You - A new site, with some collection of Myanmar songs and MTV, but not extensive.

Ayinepan - Another old Myanmar mp3 download site, getting better this time.

Myanmar Image - A section in Myanmar Image site. Some nice modern music but not much.

Inwa - A section in Inwa website to view music videos from Myanmar.

Zoho Writer

Zoho Writer - A Web Based Word Processor

I am just testing the Zoho writer from www.zoho.com. It is a web based writer whrere you do the simple word processing on your web browser. It seems the application has some powerful features, although not as powerful as Microsoft word. However, on the other hand, Microsoft Word cost a lot of money while Zoho writer is free of charge. And you can save your documents online free of charge and later retrive back from any computer with online assess. This is particularly useful if you are travelling and you want to write some letter or document, but forget to bring a laptop or a thumb drive. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend Zoho writer, as you can get Open Office free of charge, which is as powerful as Microsoft Word. And one problem I encounter while using Zoho writer is that whenever I tried to resize images, it stuck. I don't know why.

However, if you use online alot at internet cafes, this writer is a very useful application, as you can simply save all your documents online. And you can also use it to post the documents to your blog. You can reach Zoho writer at www.zoho.com.

Myanmar Web Text Editor

Here is a very nice program I have been looking for, for a very long time. A Myanmar Web Text Editor! I couldn't type Myanmar properly, and there are many people out there who cannot type Myanmar. I believe a visual Myanmar test editor, either online or standalone version, would be a great help. Now it is coming. Methodist English High School Alumni Website (MEHSA)

Here is the alumni website of the Methodist English High School, from Myanmar (formerly Rangoon, Burma). The high school is now famously known as Basic Education High School No. (1), Dagon, or Dagon One. It was a very famous Christian missionary school in the past. Even now, it is still considered the most prestigious high school in Myanmar. My father studied in that school when he was young and they did the reunion in Bangkok this January.

Here is the official website of Institute of Medicine (1), Yangon, now University of Medicine (1) Yangon. Established in 1923, The Institute of Medicine (1) is the oldest medical school in Myanmar. Thousands of outstanding doctors have been trained by this school. Here at this website, you can read about the history of the school, as well as the current structure and courses offered. There is also a section on thesis papers done by the post graduate students and faculty members of the Institute of Medicine (1).

www.idealmyanmar.com - A web hosting service from Myanmar but the servers are in US.

www.soft-comm.com - A subsidary of KMD Computer. The site claimed it provides web hosting service but I cannot find the link. And the supposed links are not working (or they are not links actually). There are many areas which really look like links but they are not links! Quite confusing to navigate. Very badly designed site. Shame for KMD.

www.navistarmm.com - The hosting service of my choice. We are using it for our site. Reasonably priced. Servers are in US.

www.alpha.com.mm - Another web hosting and web design company from Myanmar. Unfortunately, they write their site in Myanmar and they don't mention what font they use. So I cannot give any comment on their service. Too bad.

www.ihost-mm.net - Another reasonably priced Myanmar web hosting service.

www.webifiers.net - Servers located in US. The price is a bit expensive.

www.ehost-myanmar.com - They don't mention the price.

Guide to Myanmar Buddhist monastaries world wild

People at Burmese Classics compiled a very nice list of Myanmar Buddhist monastaries world wild. There are addresses and telephone numbers of Myanmar Buddhist monastaries in countries like USA, Australia, Japan, UK and many other world countries. It seems like a very complete list. Also, there is a section where you can listen to Burmese classic songs.

Yangon Institute of Technology (YIT) Alumni Website

There is now a website of the old engineering students from Yangon Institute of Technology YIT (formerly Rangoon Institute of Technology RIT). There are interesting articles by formet students, news, bulletin board, guest book, and photos. You can see the website here at YIT.

I recently come across an online Myanmar magazine. There is now an online version of "People" magazine on the internet. There are many topics such as news, entertainment, fashion, health, beauty, lifestyle, relationship, etc. However, when I tried to read these pages, the server only returned error message. I just hope this is just a temporary problem. The topics look interesting so you should check it out.
