There is now one internet cafe opened in Hakha, Chin State. The internet cafe opened at Shine Store is situated near the Clock Tower in downtown Hakha. The connection speed is painfully slow, and cost you 2,000 kyats an hour. Well, at least you are connected.

Tamu, Kabaw Valley
There are about 4 or 5 guest houses in Tamu. All of them are quite clean and tidy, with good access to restaurants. Food is not expensive in Tamu, and there are a lot of good restaurants and tea shops in Tamu. My favourite is the "Chit Tee" Restaurant in downtown Tamu. You can ask any one "Chit Tee" and they will show you the direction. In the morning you can have a very nice Puri and Tosai there.

There are many large and grand Christian Churches in Tamu, and some Hindu temples too.
There are buses in the town as well as tri cycles. Buses also run to Morae in India.

Kalay Myo
Kalay Myo which is situated in Sagaing Division, on the west bank of Chindwin River, is quite a large city. Being on the way to Tamu, which is the major border trading town on the Indian border, and also the port of entry to northern Chin State towns, including Hakha, Htangtalan, Tiddim, Tunzan and Falam, Kalay has established itself as a major commercial center on the west bank of Chindwin River.
Kalay has four wards, the most famous being Tarhan ward. About half the population are Chin people, mostly coming from northern Chin region. Many are from Tiddim, a large town in Northern Chin Hills. Almost all Chin people in Kalay are Christians. The living standard in Kalay is also high.
You can reach Kalay through Mandalay by bus or from Yangon or Mandalay by air. Air Bagan currently operates two flights a week. The ticket currently cost 68,000 kyats.
Regular bus services run from Kalay to Hakha, Falam, Tiddim and Tunzan everyday (except Sunday). These buses leave Kalay from bus station in Tarhan, whild small buses to Tamu leaves everyday from the bus station in downtown Kalay.
Taungzalat Hotel is situated in front of the Airport. Chin Taung Tan Guest House near Tarhan Bus station is cheap but quite clean and convenient for those who have to take bus to Falam and Hakha early in the morning. The price is 1500 kyats a person only.

Chin National Day 2007, Hakha
Here is the video I took of Chin National Day 2007 in Hakha, Chin State. This one is the ceremony to honor the maiden who has been chosen by the Saw-bwa. Don't take it wrong. There is no Saw-bwa in Chin Hills now but this ceremony is a replica of the ancient tradition.

A Breath of Fresh Air: To Fight TB, Open a Window
According to recent news article from Scientific America, fighting TB is as simple as opening a window. Researchers in Peru found that good ventilation helps prevent spread of TB in hospitals. Good ventilation reduces the amount of germs in the air thus reducing the chance of contracting TB as well as other air borne diseases. WHO also recommends natural ventilation as one way to limit spread of TB. So next time when you see someone cough near you, just open the window.

I have updated my Blog
After upgrading my blog from old blogger to a new blogger, I dicided it is time I should change my blog design from the old one to a new cleaner fresher look. The old blog is quite clattered and difficult to read. So I have removed some of the old things and changed to a new look. The old entries stayed there, but I updated some of them with labels so that my readers could find the interesting articles with ease. I hope the new blog design will make it easier for my readers to read my blog. Thank you for visiting my blog.

Now in Mandalay
I am now in Mandalay, on my way back from Hakha to Yangon. I will be going back to Yangon for a few days. The trip from Hakha from Mandalay took more than 24 hours. I had to spend that 24 hours on a crowded bus. It is very tiring and all my back and knees are painful and my feet numb. I initially intended to go back to Yangon on the same day as my arrival to Mandalay but I was very tired and decided to take a rest in Mandalay for one night before going back to Yangon.
Mandalay has developed quite rapidly. The roads are cleaner and better with many new and beautiful modern buildings. The youngstars are also more fashionable than previously. There are also two modern shopping malls newly opened in Mandalay. Although they are small in size, at least people in Mandalay now feel like a real modern city.
The weather is cool in early morning but quite hot during the day, especially for somebody coming from a very cold place like Hakha where temperature is still near zero at this time. Last month, temperature in Hakha dropped to as low as minus four! Even while I was in Hakha last week, the temperature in Hakha was under five degree centegrade at night.
I got cold now because of dust and hot weather. I didn't get cold in Chin Hills although it is very cold over there. Eventually, I was turning into someone who cannot tolerate heat anymore. I have been in Chin Hills for more than two years now and I am now so accustomed to cold weather that the heat makes me feel sick.

From Kalay Myo
Hi all, I am now visiting Kalay. I found out that there are two internet cafes in Kalay. However, they are very expensive, 1500 kyats an hour! And the connection is very slow. Anyway, something is better than nothing, and I feel like I am now in a modern world again. Because the fees is very expensive, I cannot post a long post here. I will write a longer and more detail one when I get back to Yangon. For now, this in all.
