Do coffee and cigarettes protect against Parkinson's disease?

Oh my God! Finally I think I found a reason to start smoking. According to this news report from New Scientist, drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes might protect an individual from getting Parkinson's disease, a disease of older people with loss of memory and coordination. A team of researchers did a study comparing the Parkinson's patients and their non Parkinson closed relatives on their habit on smoking and coffee drinking. They found that the patients are more likely to be non smokers and drink less coffee than their non-diseased siblings. So next time your mother or your girlfriend asks you to quit smoking, you have a reason to tell them why you should smoke.

But wait a minute, there are concrete evidences that smoking has a strong relation, a very strong one, with various kinds of diseases, including heart disease, peripheral vascular diseases and lung cancer. So you either have Parkinson or heart attack. It is your choice.
